Oval Car - 360 Experience
Car camera Package
Last update: 2025.02
The Oval Car - 360 Experience camera package contains exclusively car camera (onboard) views for the iRacing oval cars. These camera views are wide angle and fully rotatable 360 degrees. The aim of this is to give the most fun and the most sense of speed in the most realistic way possible.

Based on demand and your valuable feedback I can add more cars or any of the older cars or other view angles.

This camera package does NOT contain any tracks cameras. They can be found here.
Whats new?

Brand new camera package with 27 cars.
This is a new innovative and experimental camera package. If you think you've seen it all, please give this a try and tell me your experience. I think its ultra fun and can become easily your new favorite onboard collection.

Features
Onboard camera usage in iRacing is limited to 8 camera groups, no more, no less. And camera groups can not be renamed so we need to stick to the default names. Also order of cameras can not be changed. Based on this not all car cameras will look like exactly the same but I tried to keep it consistent as possible. See below which group I use for what type of onboard:

Available camera groups (this my generic approach but can vary based on car class). Car cameras across cars in the same class should be alligned (please let me know if not).
-
Group1 (Nose) - placed on the top of front hud
-
Group2 (Gearbox) - placed on rear bumper or near the rear spoiler or rear rooftop
-
Group3 (Rollbar) - this is inside the car and one of the main views (part of RandomTV in the track cameras)
-
Group4 (LF Susp) - this is on the rooftop, the second main view option. On some cars Rollbar and LF Susp camera may be switched but long term I hope to harmonize all cars.
-
Group5 (LR Susp) - this is usually on rooftop looking backwards
-
Group6 (Gyro) - driver facing camera
-
Group7 (RF Susp) - depends on car, typically near the rear bumber and facing forward
-
Group8 (RR Susp) - depends on car, typically in cockpit facing forward

Most of the cars have a gyro and a non-gyro version. I found both versions working well but for the gyro option I tested them and enabled pitch and/or roll gyro based on my feeling. These presets are based on my experience and testing. But if you know how to use the camera tool you can enable any gyro combinations based on your taste.

Motion blur enabled - all onboards have the motion blur parameter fine tuned to give more sense of speed. It is strongly preferred that you enable motion blur in your graphic options.
