Why should I care about camera views at all for my broadcast?

If you're here, means for me you are looking for improvements and you want to give better value and better content for your viewers who give you their most valuable resource, their time. This is how I see custom cameras fit into the whole context of broadcasting and what role they play making a full broadcast possible:

  • Layer 1: iRacing platform - its given, each of us have a reason why we chose this over other titles but here we are. We can not change directly how iRacing works and how it generally looks. We can only configure some part of it but I think aiming for best visual quality should be the goal of any serious broadcaster. We can only trust the iRacing team to continuously develop and improve it further.

  • Layer 1.5 Shaders: you can apply some shaders and color correction to improve the look but it is not the main differentiator in my opinion.

  • Layer 2: Racing action - it's given as well, and performed by the drivers on track (you can not influence it generally). Each driver sits in their car, sees the world through the cockpit and using the tools available to perform during the race.

  • Layer 3: Cameras - it also part of the iRacing platform but is the true first layer what you can influence to make a difference. Cameras are the most basic element to show the racing action externally, using onboard and trackside views. The external cameras define how you capture and deliver the on track action visually. 100% customizable and fully up to the director how to utilize it. This is the first option to make a difference that allows to create a your style that can attract and keep viewers entertained.

  • Layer 4: 3rd party overlay, race control software, commentary, pre and post race shows, live timing - these are key piece for a broadcast but - in my opinion - only secondary compared to cameras. Only with these you can not deliver the full  experience of the racing action.

Every layer is important and if mixed together well the result will be very immersive and entertaining. Which I hope we agree, is the end goal.

If you agree with my logic and see that cameras are the first point of entities that is in your control and they are core part of the broadcast. Without the 'camera layer' the essence of the racing action can not be fully captured. Everything else is an additional layer to enrich the broadcast.

Looking at today's live streams, do you think today's big broadcaster teams get the maximum out of the cameras? Based on what I see, they don't. What it means for you that there is room for improvement and room to deliver a more exciting a more visually engaging broadcast than anything out there today. I think it should be the core mission of every broadcaster to deliver the best possible visual experience. And I can help you to get there faster and deliver quality and innovative camera views constantly. I have an arsenal of cameras already available to get started.

My background and why I'm doing this

The road camera packages I offer are the culmination of over a decade of development, beginning with a focus on road racing in 2012 and now extending to oval, rallycross and off-road. As detailed in the "About" section, you're not just getting custom camera angles; you're receiving a comprehensive package designed to enhance the visual storytelling of on-track action through carefully designed camera groups, transitions allowing a good rhythm and flow, and individual camera tuning for best visuals. This setup aims to make your streams or broadcasts more engaging and enjoyable for viewers.

I read this somewhere:

Expertise is recognition and it comes from highly structured information stored in long-term memory. To build that memory requires 4 things:

  1. Repeated experience with feedback (with same events), pattern recognition

  2. Valid environment (with predictable regularities)

  3. Timely feedback for each attempt

  4. Deliberate practice (10000 hrs of practice) - Don't get too comfortable. Keep learning and improving, practice at the edge of your ability, go beyond comfort zone.

If they all met, performance is astonishing.

For me the regular working environment is the Camera Tool. I'm working on various type of tracks that show a pattern (road/street, long/short oval, dirt, flat vs hilly etc). Feedback from you is incredible so far (always need more and more often!).
I do it every day, almost. I've spent 1000's of hours since 2012, so I think I reached 10000 hours already. To stretch my comfort zone I started to innovate (DynamicTV, Speedcam on road, P
ole cam, special camera transitions and camera placements you only get here), 360 degree onboard cameras is the latest of innovations. I also learned and created my website, produce screenshots and videos. And lately as the biggest step out of my comfort zone I started to do livestreams to demonstrate the capabilities of the custom cameras (I showed Helmet cam first in live action).
Am I an expert? See the results and you tell me. But if you think I am let's see what I can offer you.

2 - Technical Requirements

2.1 Graphic settings

  • To ensure your stream visual quality captures the essence of my vision enable 'Depth of Field' and 'Motion Blur' in iRacing's 'Options/Replay' menu. Choose your preferred level of motion blur (low/medium/high).

  • Without the above two you're missing out features I specifically designed with those options enabled.

2.2 Camera package integrity

  • If you're considering tweaks to the camera package, shoot me an email with your ideas. I'm all about collaboration but let's maintain the quality and flow.

  • If we're on the same wavelength and we can establish a trusted, ongoing partnership, I am open to giving more customization freedom aligning with my quality standards, keeping changes to no more than 10-15% of the original package.

The above points are preferred for every single stream / broadcast using my cameras.
